Hallberg Swedish Silver 1919 Art Nouveau Hand Hammered Compote Bowl
C. G. Hallberg, Swedish silver compote bowl from 1919, beautifully hand hammered and in Art Nouveau style with curvilinear, natural motifs in relief adorning the stem of the compote. It measures 6 1/2'' in height by 7 1/4'' in diameter, weighs 17.2 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks and an inscription as shown.
C.G. Hallberg was a prominent Swedish goldsmiths and jewelers, jeweler to the Swedish Court. It is best known for its silverware and metalware. In the early 20th century it was the largest jeweler in Scandinavia and one of Sweden's top firms; by 1961 it was still the largest jewelers in Sweden with 31 domestic shops and a global export network. It merged with GAB, a silversmith active in Stockholm since 1867, in 1961.
