Pair of Richard Cooke English Sterling Silver 1807 Georgian Covered Dishes
Pair of Richard Cooke, English sterling silver covered dishes from 1807 (Georgian era) with beautiful crisp repousse floral designs on the lids and bases, adorned with finials. The finials are removable such that these pair of dishes can open up to create 4 dishes. They measure 11 3/4'' by 8 1/3'' by 4 3/4'' in height with the lid (1 3/4'' without), weigh 108.6 troy ounces, and bear hallmarks as shown.
Richard Cooke registered his first mark in 1799. He supplied the leading Royal retailers, such as Rundell & Co. A.G. Grimwade in his work, "London Goldsmiths, 1697-1837", emphasizes that his work is of a high standard. Some of his pieces have been sold at prestigious auction houses, such as Christie’s.
