Early 20th century, Black, Starr & Frost sterling silver pitcher in exquisite Art Nouveau style with dimensional flowers applied around the rim. It measures 8 3/4'' in height by 9'' from handle to spout by 6 1/2'' in depth, weighs 22.9 ozt, shows signs of usage, and bears hallmarks as shown.
The oldest continuously operating jewelry firm in the United States, Black, Starr & Frost also produced objects in silver. Already in 1860, the company received an order for more than $12,000 of jewelry and silverware from Edward, Prince of Wales. In 1929, Black, Starr & Frost merged with Gorham Corporation, and was renamed Black, Starr, Frost-Gorham.
