Dominick & Haff and Mauser 1903 Pair of Sterling Silver Candlesticks in Art Nouveau Style

Pair of Dominick & Haff / Mauser sterling silver candlesticks from 1903 in exquisite Art Nouveau style with raised natural motifs, measuring   10 1/4” in height by 4 1/2” in diameter at the base, and bearing hallmarks and monograms as shown. Dominick & Haff was an American silver manufacturer based in New York City. It was co-founded by Henry Blanchard Dominick and Leroy B. Haff in 1872, incorporated in 1889, and it was sold to Reed & Barton in 1928. The firm designed pots, mugs, centerpieces, spoons, tea sets and kettles. Examples can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, Cooper Hewitt, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.  Please feel free to e-mail us with any questions, and please see our other listings. We hand polish all items before shipping them out, but if there is interest for a professional polishing and/or engraving removal, we can take care of that for an additional charge and with delayed shipping.

Pair of American weighted sterling silver candlesticks by Theodore B. Starr, New York, NY,  20th Century, having a baluster column with urn form capital, and profusely decorated with tooled and applied swags, flowers, foliage and shields on an openwork base. Height 11″, base diameter 5 3/4″.  Gross weight 39.7 troy ounces. Theodore B. Set of 3 Georg Jensen by Verner Panton Candlesticks, graduated sizes, made from polished aluminum small candlestick – 4 and 3/4 inches in height medium candlestick – 7 inches in height large candlestick – 9 and 1/4 inches in height. All in Art Moderne style.Georg Jensen, a Danish silversmith, set up his own silver business in 1904 in Copenhagen. Jensen’s training in metalsmithing along with his education in the fine arts allowed him to combine the two disciplines and revive the tradition of the artist craftsman. Soon, the beauty and quality of his creations caught the eye of the public and his success was assured. The Copenhagen quarters were greatly expanded and before the end of the 1920s, Jensen had opened retail in Berlin (1909), London (1921), and New York (1924).
